A trek for fall color – deep in New Hampshire

“Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.”  - John Muir

Its about that time again! Fall is in the air:)

As a South Floridian, I must admit that the one thing I miss from living up North is the season changes. Our fall is, well, just like the summer actually….just a little less humid. Now don’t get me wrong here, I’m not looking to start shoveling leaves out of the yard, but a few nice walks in the cool brisk air while searching for fall color scenics to photograph is more like it.

There is something very special about those first couple of weeks heading into any new season actually. It’s a shame if you’re a photographer or even a passionate enthusiast like me not to take the time to capture it. In fact, I think I’m gonna make it a point to escape 4 times a year to capture those moments now that I think of it. A great way to recharge the creative batteries don’t ya think? I might keep that winter trip short though. It gets pretty cold out there!

I made it a point to get up to New England a couple of years ago to capture the color, but never really hit the peak. Not even close actually. I hope to do a bit better this time. Below is a shot from that trip. As you can see, its still a little green, but still pretty!

My plan for this trip to to start in Vermont and make my way through the country side capturing barns, waterfalls, color, and light while eventually making it through New Hampshire and into Maine to attend a workshop with John Paul Caponigro. I’ve been a pretty big fan of his ever since I heard him speak and present at a Photoshop World convention in Las Vegas a couple of years ago. I love his outlook on art, creativity, and life. It’s also nice when photographing a location to get the “inside scoop” on great little sites that you might never get a chance to find on your own.

Yeah, I’m pretty excited about this little trek. I’m sure you’ll be seeing a few posts from the road around here soon:)

Here is a quick video he did on a Ted talk a couple of years ago. I’ve mentioned several times here on the blog about how important art and creativity is to not only my life but to everyones life. Seems like our society likes beating that out of the average student of life while at the same time, brainwashing him into the world of consumerism. Reminds me of a quote I shared on Facebook the other day…

“Every child is an artist, the problem is staying an artist when you grow up” – Pablo Picasso

Love it!

That of course is another blog post altogether!

Enjoy…..I think you’ll see why I resonate with him.
