Exploring the details at the capitol – Austin, Texas

“Shift to a state of awe and bewilderment as you appreciate the beauty that’s in all people and all things. Stop your habitual way of noticing what you don’t like and instead look hard and deliberately for what you find pleasing.” – Dr. Wayne Dyer

If I can pass on but one thing too my little one, it is just that. To stop, to appreciate, to observe, ….. to absorb the world in a total state of awe.

This morning finds her off to see the capitol (Washington, DC that is) on her very first out of town school trip. Not but a few minutes ago, I was lucky to be able to see her off….and to witness the excitement in her little eyes. Off to explore, to experience but a small part of this wonderful planet we call home.

I was reminded of how I felt, the first time I through myself right out of my comfort zone. Pack on back, a flight into Europe, a slight feeling of bewilderment, but a strong sense of awe for what I was about to experience.

As Anthony Bourdain puts it so well….

“Travel changes you. It SHOULD change you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life – and travel – leaves marks on you. Most of the time, those marks – on your body or on your heart – are beautiful.”

Be safe my child, and travel in awe. A beautiful world … a new world….is out there for you to enjoy! Embrace it 🙂

PS….It’s funny that I have been to DC at least a dozen times and had to resort to an image of the capitol of Texas! Really? What on earth was I doing up in DC with my camera anyway? More on that in my next post 🙂
