A dismall day at the falls

Photography is all about lighting. If you don’t have great light, its hard to have a great photograph. May I present exhibit #1.

I hadn’t seen the sun in 2 days, but still tried desperately to capture this natural beauty.

This was captured on a small Canon G9 and then processed a little in CS3 with some dodging and burning to attempt to take our eye thru the image. Not sure how to salvage these shots!

I like the composition as it is. Beautiful waterfall and I kind of like the monocromatic look to it. I had a few of those crappy days when away on vacation to some great places and it’s very disappointing.ReplyCancel

And you have captured this natural beauty so remarkably well. I like it the way it is. Even with the waterfalls just occupying one-third of the frame, there’s no mistaking its grandeur and its importance to the composition. Sometimes limited lighting works for the best. I find the darker foreground to be a great counterpoint to the highlights of the waterfalls.ReplyCancel

lol…too bad it was a dismal day. Still the effect of low light and grey skies creates quite a somber mood which in itself is very neat.ReplyCancel

Well, I guess it depends on what your expectations were. I think this shot and the mood of the shot is awesome. I’d leave everything as is, no cropping or saturation boost as some people suggest.

I love the coloring to be honest, the clouds and light behind them tie everything together. I wouldn’t crop the shot either, the rocks in the foreground draw your eye right to the falls. Incredible shot.ReplyCancel
