A familiar place in Maine – Portland Lighthouse (I think!)

“We are told to let our light shine, and if it does, we won’t need to tell anybody it does. Lighthouses don’t fire cannons to call attention to their shining- they just shine.” – Dwight L. Moody

I had grand hopes….at least before I left for this area….of deep layered skys of vibrant color and depth. Well, as you can see, not so much. At first of course, it bothered me. Seems like I always hit places like these at the most non opportunistic times. Take for example, my recent trip thru a couple of National Parks in California. I had high hopes of photographing the falls in Yosemite with a new filter I had bought. Never before have I seen such a dry waterfall, but thats another story altogether!

Of course, in times like these, it just forces you to dig a bit deeper into your creative self. I kind of like the challenge actually. I had arrived at this spot in between bands of New England coastal rain and most of the people had left. Just me, the wind, the sea, and a little iconic scene on the coast of Maine.
