One of the great things about lighting events is the unique spaces we get the opportunity to create in, and this one was no exception. A tent on the dock of the intracoastal, overlooking the beautiful skyline of West Palm Beach on a beautiful South Florida cool winters night……who could ask for a better location?
So, as you must know by now, this blog has been and somewhat continues to be, a random cacophony of posts from my experiences in both the world of lighting events and my worldly search for the light. Two similar yet very different worlds indeed. As a lighting designer, I have made a career out of creating light or “tossing Lumens” onto various things. Sets, rooms, tables, people, buildings, brides, decor, plants, cars, stages,……its all a canvas when you paint with light. I love to paint with light! I guess thats what attracted me into the world of the digital darkroom.
Stumbling around a bit a couple of years ago, when researching how to get that broud range of light to appear in my images (the way my eyes see it), I found really great photographer and mentor called Trey Ratcliff. He runs an incredible site called Stuck In Customs. As a lover of travel and of course light, I immediately fell in love with his art. His unique style of HDR Photography and digital imaging sucked my right in and sparked a new found passion for me…..that has continued to this day.
For those interested in learning more about the technique of HDR Photography, I highly recomend checking out a webinar he is going to be holding really soon. Its 9 hours of great training. Check out the link to it here: Webinar
He is a brilliant and very insightful artist and has a rather unique and refreshing perspective on art, photography, and the future of the digital media. I heard today that the price is going up soon……like maybe tomorrow, so check it out now if you are interested. Once again the link is HERE.
I got my seat today as I am sure I will pick up a few new tips and inspiration. I’ll see you there!
Check out some of these images that I was able to create from some of the many tips and tricks about HDR and processing I have already learned from Trey!

Another stunner! Fabulous contrast of colours and superb foreground and background detail.
