“Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful, we must carry it with us, or we find it not.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson
After a long day behind the lighting console in a somewhat cavornous ballroom in Chicago, it was refreshing to say the least to get out and see the outside world. I had my eye on this area during the day as I passed it a few times a couple of floors up. There is this beautiful and somewhat new riverwalk environment that seems to stretch for several blocks right along the river downtown. A great place to get out and be active…..and thats always a good thing right? I had a hunch that it was going to look pretty dramatic at night by the look of some of the lights that were installed along the space, and I was right!
Lighting a stage by day, searching for light in the evening, and capturing the light at night….a great way to spend the day. Glad I could share it!
In case your interested by the way, here is a link to my site for event lighting. I have a few cool pics there on the galleys of some of the artistic environments we get to paint with light in. Enjoy!

Love this, Michael! It’s always great to see a brilliant composition of a place that I see so often, but never thought to take a picture of. Next time your in Chicago let me know, i’d love to show you some other spots!
