Catching the morning light – A Harbour somewhere in Maine

“Welcome every morning with a smile. Look on the new day as another special gift from your Creator, another golden opportunity to complete what you were unable to finish yesterday. Be a self-starter. Let your first hour set the theme of success and positive action that is certain to echo through your entire day. Today will never happen again. Don’t waste it with a false start or no start at all. You were not born to fail.” – Og Mandino quotes

Quote or not, its still a challenge to get this photographer out of bed before the crack of dawn to catch that magical light. I night owl I am, so that might have a weeee bit to do with it.

On this particular day though, I headed off into the dark Maine morning (before coffee) on a mission. Not having any idea at all where to park myself, I stumbled upon this little nook of nautical goodness indeed by complete accident. As with so many of my images, this set sat a little while waiting patiently for its time on the blog. I truly don’t think I will ever have a chance to process all the images I have captured over the past couple of years, yet I am on a constant quest to capture more. I guess the journey for me is actually more important than ever reaching the destination, so onward I will continue to travel…..in search of that light!

Of course, when I’m not out bumbling about the Maine Coast, the Florida Beaches, the European Continent, and else where in the world first thing in the morning, my own personal search for light is a bit deeper. I used to grab a quick cup of Joe and immediately get to work….checking email, answering the phone, and generally letting every distraction lead my path thru the day. It takes a bit of focus to change that process, but its a path I have been on for a while now.

Speaking of that morning ritual, I thought I would share this short clip from my friend Drew Canole. My mornings have become quite special to me lately as they set the tone for the day. Of course, the bizarre hours I work in the world of special events prohibits this routine quite a bit, but for the most part, I try not to let these precious mornings get away from me if at all possible. Check it out and let me know what you think, and also, check Drew’s site at Fitlife.TV or DrewCanole.com for more inspiration, health tips, and juicing tips!
