“No matter how sophisticated you may be, a large granite mountain cannot be denied – it speaks in silence to the very core of your being” – Ansel Adams
I spent the better part of the afternoon in total awe of the human spirit that was driving the many climbers scattered along the trails leading up the face of El Capitan. And by trails, of course I mean slivers in the rock that these “spiderman superhumans” just seem to literally crawl up. Insane! As they are only seen as little specs to the naked eye, I was lucky enough to stumble into a veteran climber that was perched on one of the bridges close to where I shot this. He had a telescope setup for travelers such as myself to get a closer look at the craziness that was taking place up on that wall. Wow, what seemed like little specs were actually climbers…and lots of them! It looked so easy! Well, after getting a full rundown on the sport as well getting a whole list of questions answered (like, how does one go to the bathroom up there, how long does one train, the various injuries that can happen, etc.), I was reminded once again of why I was NOT up there and wandering the valley with my camera! Maybe someday, but I kinda doubt it……
