A week of event lighting by Hy-lite Productions “Market America – Greensboro, NC.”

In the beginning there was nothing.  God said, “Let there be light!”  And there was light.  There was still nothing, but you could see it a whole lot better.  ~Ellen DeGeneres

How true that is, especially when it some to lighting a stage! As promised, I am going to launch into a few images from the events world that I work in. For the most part, you see me throwing up random images from the world as I see it. Although that is usually where my head is at (somewhere in the world that is), I’m gonna reel myself in this week and catch up a bit. Hope you like….

Our first collection is a group of images from an event we did last year up in Greensboro, NC. As luck would have it, you’ll find us up there again this year in about 3 weeks actually. More to come on that I am sure.

This years design in in the can and ready for shop prep. One week of shop prep, two days of on site setup, one day of rehearsal, 8 vendors, and 12 trucks later….we will be ready for the attendees.

Although the house lights do a great job at lighting the arena floor, the drama of the set is lost without creative stage lighting!

With the press of a button, the set can easily take on a completely different feel with the use of color and texture.

Although this post is more about lighting than anything, the image below is a great example of blending HDR processing with masking and levels. The screen capture was masked in with a single exposure fast enough to capture the detail without blur, while the rest of the image was created with a series of exposures to capture the entire dynamic range.

The Rigging Atlanta Rigging Systems

Incidentally, working with word press and expecting it to act like a WYSIWYG layout is really quite impossible, or at least for me so far. The layout I ended up going with is NOTHING like I originally envisioned. Any suggestions would be welcome! I think I just lost about 3 hours I will never get back! Here’s hoping tomorrow is a little smoother. Like anything…..one step forward, 2 steps back, 3 steps forward, 2 steps back……

More from the wonderful world of lighting tomorrow!
