Meet the Artist – Phil Hendrie

First off, I hope you like these weekly posts about some of the people that I appreciate in this ever changing world of art and entertainment. The internet has opened doors to the creative like no time in history.

So who is this artist I like to share each week? What does he do?

Simple…..

The artist….he creates. He shares his gift. He brings value to the marketplace.

He expresses….

There are many ways, especially in this world of “New Media” to express yourself. The artist of today has a seemingly endless array of platforms to share his art. How awesome is that by the way?!

As you probably know by now, my definition of the artist is much broader than just one that takes paint to canvas. The spoken word, created and performed by a unique orator like our artist tonight, is a great example of that.

Meet the Artist – Phil Hendrie

I’ve LONG been a fan of this performer since his days on traditional radio. Flawlessly switching his voice from his own to a few dozen characters, his art of meandering the conversation down an ever deepening rabbit hole of craziness has had me cracking up more times than I care to admit.

The arts, its always been a way to escape the seriousness of life and this artist is one who comedically provides that vehicle.

I’ve recently been tuning in and supporting his new delivery platform. Like I said, he used to have a syndicated show on traditional radio, but as that delivery modality is sinking along with the newspaper industry, he is in essence a “self publisher”. His new delivery platform options has allowed his art to expand into some new directions. It’s the artist that understands and embraces these new options in this evolving world that gets to share their true art (uncensored at that).

This video is from a couple of years ago when he was on the radio. As you could see, he would flawlessly switch between voices as he went deeper down the rabbit hole. As his “guests” he had on his show enfolded their crackpot stories and agendas, infuriated callers would call in to argue with him.

Now I realize that this art is not one that might be appreciated by all of my readers here, but you have to admit, he is pretty gifted!

Or watch the video here!

His newer podcast flow does not have the callers calling in, but the banter he creates with his cast of 4 knuckleheads he has put together (again, his own voice) is pure comedic brilliance and “off the charts” hilarious.

Again, he’s a little colorful….so consider yourself warned. If this isn’t your cup of tea, no worries. For everyone else, enjoy!  🙂
