Scrambling to catch the light

“Don’t ask yourself what the world needs; ask yourself what makes you come alive. And then go and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” – Howard Thurman

Having been a bit buried in a milllion and one things lately, I asked myself that very question the other day. It’s been a while since I went out on a quest for light, natural light, that wonderful light that only seems to appear just before sunrise or an hour or so before sunset. It’s a daily gift we are all given if we take the time to unwrap it and appreciate it.

As I noticed the clouds start to form outside my balcony, I quickly realised that the pile of projects I had before me would in fact be there for forever, but the moment to escape and capture the light (as well as embrace something that makes ME feel alive) would pass rather quickly. Funny how fast those moments vanish if you don’t grab them!

On a related note, I came across this video the other day on Facebook. How cool is Facebook (and google plus) by the way. It’s like you can carve out your unique stream of content and data you care to consume. Turn on the TV and you are force fed what the large corporations want you to consume. Don’t believe me, just watch the news (really watch it) and you will notice the unique blend of bad and depressing stories followed up with commercials of drugs to help you get rid of that depression and anxiety that the news created in the first place. Bizarre if you think about it! As you may or not now (or care actually), I’m not a really big fan of TV…especially the news!

If I am going to chill out, I personally would rather consume the great quotes, positive energy, creative art and expression, and personal achievements that my unique Facebook stream delivers to me.  Mainstream media is certainly not going to share a video like the one below, but a like-minded friend on Facebook with an agenda that is a little more in-tuned to creating a better world will.

I’m a big believer in the concept of “If you have something to share with the world, it is your responsibility to share that gift!” Nowhere in history has this been easier than right now in fact. My Facebook stream is full of talented people doing just that. Sharing their unique tips on diet and exercise, motivating thoughts, humorous stories, incredible photography, unique views of the world, and artistic expression. All artists creating and sharing their art….people who have come alive…..all while making MY world a better place. Thank you all for your contribution!

Take a few minutes to watch this video for a deeper dive into what I am talking about.
