Searching for the Light – Canterbury Cathedral

“A rock pile ceases to be a rock pile the moment a single man contemplates it, bearing within him the image of a cathedral.  – Antoine de Saint-Exupery

I used to have a bit of problem bumbling about these cathedrals with the tripod and kit. Although I tend to be a bit stealth-like (as stealth as you can be with a huge Nikon D3, its bulbous 14-24mm lense, and tripod that is), I still feel a little weird. Like I’m intruding I guess. Guess it’s from those years with the nuns in Catholic school as a kid. Its becoming a little easier as of late however, as every one and his grandmother seems to be toting their smart phones and taking images of everything in sight. Oh the terabits of bad images out there!

Anyway, I loved this place in Canterbury. So many places to explore! A special thanks to the kind help there as well for letting me do my thing…..tripod and all! I hope this inspires you to go there if you find yourself across the pond. It’s just a short little train ride from Victoria Station in London!
