“Travel changes you. As you move through this life and this world you change things slightly, you leave marks behind, however small. And in return, life – and travel – leaves marks on you. Most of the time, those marks – on your body or on your heart – are beautiful. Often, though, they hurt.” – Anthony Bourdain
I posted this quote a couple of nights ago, but love it so much I thought I would share it again!
I worked on this one as well the other night after I caught the premier episode of “The Layover” on the travel channel. I don’t spend much time in front of the tube, but make a few exceptions for shows like that!
I used a few different techniques to get to this point that I might share in a video soon, so stay tuned 🙂
Not that there is any great depth of emotion or feeling in this image, but it does remind me of a thought that pops into my head every now and then.
As the world population continues to seemingly burst at the seems with feelings of deep seeded anger, resentment, jealousy, rage, and hatred for each other, I wonder how much of that truly is ignorance. I try not to subject myself to the media’s interpretation of the worlds events, but you have to admit, things are really out of control it seems. Without the limitations of cost, fuels and resources needed, time off, etc….what if more of us had a chance to travel? Of course, I am not at all referring to the overcrowded tour-bus nightmare kind of travel that drags one around to all of the landmarks and shelters you from the real world (although, that’s at least a start). I am referring to the deeper dive into a foreign culture….one in which you take the time and interest to actually understand another world than yours. Makes one wonder if more people subjected themselves to a deeper understanding of the world and all of the people that call it their home, by way of travel, would some of these feelings of negativity towards each other get diluted and perhaps washed away completely.
One can only hope….and dream ……
