“The open road is a beckoning, a strangeness, a place where a man can lose himself.” – William Least Heat Moon
About to hit to hit the open road myself. Having just finished illuminating a 3 day event here in Santa Barbara, I have decided to extend my stay a couple of days and do a weee bit of exploring up the coast of California. With any luck, I hope to get up to the Bir Sur area by sunset, or at least thats the general plan. We’ll see how the day unfolds though.
And a little behind the scenes clip about the image as well as my post processing thoughts. Sorry about the noise and camera shakiness! (is that even a word?)

Loving the colours and the scene, its great!
Nice colours Mike! Such a great scene. Do you use blur effects, like in Nik Color Efex?
I like those clouds, Michael! Nice work!
Thanks folks and yes….I love Nik ColorEFX. I used a bit of glamour glow on this one 🙂
Yeah I thought so! I love that effect. Seems to add a bit of motion to the grass/bush as well which is very clever.
Hi, I stumbled across your photostream on flickr and ended up here. Your work is amazing, and your video tutorial, although above my head, was entertaining. I am going to have to read more about how you make your photos so vibrant and dramatic, I would love to learn from you. The more I research photography and editing, the more I realize how much more I have to learn. Thanks so much for sharing!
