Wandering in the Alps

“Adventure is a path. Real adventure- self-determined, self-motivated, often risky- forces you to have firsthand encounters with the world. The world the way it is, not the way you imagine it. Your body will collide with the earth and you will bear witness. In this way you will be compelled to grapple with the limitless kindness and bottomless cruelty of humankind-and perhaps realize that you yourself are capable of both. This will change you. Nothing will ever again be black-and-white.” – Mark Jenkins

I love a good quote! Anyone that happens to follow me on twitter probably knows that. I love to re tweet these little morsels of information when I see them. There is something quite powerful in the written word, especially if you truly believe it. In the rush to “get by” while rushing thru life, perhaps these profound words are brushed over with a quick roll of the eye by many. That’s cool, in fact that is me sometimes. A few years ago, that might have always been me actually!

Over the past few months, I have really taken the time to immerse myself into a few good reads to help keep me focused. While this little blog of mine initially started a couple of years ago as a place to document my journeys, lighting events, and my passion for photography, I see it developing into much more. Not exactly sure what at this point, but I guess that’s part of the excitement of the process! So, with all that being said, I plan of posting a little here and there about a few of the great inspirational books, sites, and artists that have influenced my journey recently.

As far as the images…..

One of the most incredible things I have allowed myself to do over the past few years is just to stop and unplug. My occasional search for inner peace has frequently found me on a plane to Europe. I’ve always had this dream. Although it was a bit suppressed thru my decade of marriage, I see it happening some year soon. This dream is to spend about 4 to 5 months of the year in Europe. From about mid May thru October, perhaps based in Paris would be nice. From the Lapland in Norway to the Algarve in Portugal to the Taverns of Greece to the Coastline of Ireland, I would of course continue to work on the art of the image. You know, a few years ago, if someone told me there were interested in taking off a few months to “work on their art”, I would have written them off as a flake! LOL

Incidentally, if you are on this path of wonderment about your true path and passion in life, the book “Eat Pray Love” is a great read to start. Although I am a male, I relate to this story in so many ways.

And hey….as always, thanks for stopping by! I appreciate the company 🙂

Those are some kind of landscapes……. amazingly sharp as a tack.. Beautiful processing and I have to ask. What body and lens…. and is there such as thing as F30…… I would love to hear you setup for these shots and a very short summary of your workflow. I just sold my d300 and picked up a d700 and the 24-70 and I was curious if the 14-24 was used or something similar. Listen, just thanks for sharing these amazing pictures. Here is a nice quote for you…..
